In Erbil... First Legal Artificial Intelligence Model in Kurdistan Region and Iraq Announced
On Thursday, February 12, 2026, in the presence of Firsat Ahmed, Minister of Justice; Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil; and a number of other judges, presidents, and members of the Bar Association, Project Judy was announced in a ceremony at the Kurdistan Bar Association building.
Project Judy is considered the first legal artificial intelligence model at the level of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, aiming to develop technological infrastructure, digitize public services, and promote reform and modernization in the administrative and legal sectors.
This project offers advanced capabilities in providing crucial strategic services to lawyers, the judicial system, and official institutions, with the goal of increasing efficiency, fluidity, and speed in carrying out tasks.
During the ceremony, the Governor of Erbil commended the announcement of this new system, recognizing it as a significant advancement in the legal field generally. He expressed hope that this project would become a powerful assistant for lawyers and legal and official institutions, facilitating legal research and analysis, streamlining cases, finding evidence, reducing congestion in courts, expediting case organization, and simplifying work for judges.
