Van... Erbil Governor Visits DEM Party Headquarters

As part of his official visit to the city of Van, on Monday, June 8, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, and Halgurd Sheikh Najib, Supervisor of the Soran Independent Administration, visited the headquarters of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) in Van.
They were received by Gulshen Kurt and Veysi Dilkıran, co-chairs, and both parliamentarians Mahmud Dindar and Gulderen Varlı, along with other officials from the party's organizations.
 

During the meeting, which was attended by the Deputy Supervisor of Soran Independent Administration, the president of , the Director General of Tourism, representatives of the Barzani Charity Foundation, and the Chambers of Commerce, emphasis was placed on strengthening historical and cultural ties. Concurrently, the development of social and economic exchange between Erbil Governorate and Van city was discussed, and both sides reiterated the importance of constructive dialogue and peaceful coexistence as the only solution for achieving political stability and social development in the region.
 

In this regard, the Governor of Erbil stated that the peace process, dialogue, and peaceful resolution in Turkey are important not only for the country itself but also for the political and security stability and economic development of the entire region, especially the Kurdistan Region.
 

He added that the Kurdistan Region has always been a positive factor and a supporter of any step that serves peace, coexistence, and stability in neighboring countries, as the security of the countries in the region is interconnected.
 

For their part, high-ranking DEM Party officials expressed their pleasure with the Governor of Erbil's speech and reception, emphasizing the importance of developing economic and political relations between the two sides.
