Erbil Governor Visits Ak Party Headquarters in Van City

On Monday, June 8, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, accompanied by Halgurd Sheikh Najib, Supervisor of Soran Independent Administration, as part of his official visit to Van city, visited the headquarters of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party). He was received by Abdulahad Arvas, Head of the Van Branch of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
 

During the meeting, which was attended by the Deputy Supervisor of Soran Independent Administration, the president of Erbil Municipality, the Director General of Tourism, representatives of the Barzani Charity Foundation, and the Chambers of Commerce, discussions focused on the historical and social relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Republic of Turkey.
 

They also discussed the importance of political and economic stability in the region and the role of parties and political factions in strengthening bridges of communication and developing cooperation between the two sides.
 

In another aspect of the meeting, both sides reiterated the need for further facilitations at border crossings with the aim of boosting the economy between the two sides and developing joint cultural and social activities.

For his part, the Governor of Erbil expressed the readiness of Erbil Governorate to provide all facilitations to strengthen tourism and trade relations between Erbil and the provinces of the Republic of Turkey.
