 Today, Monday, September 15, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, welcomed Sheikha Bashir Farhan, the UAE Consul General in Erbil, at the Governor's Office.

During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil, while warmly welcoming the UAE Consul General, discussed the nature of relations between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE. Fortunately, these relations are now at the level of high leadership on both sides, and the UAE holds great significance for the Kurdistan Region.
 

In the difficult days of the war against terrorists, they played a prominent role in assisting the Kurdistan Region, and in the humanitarian and health sectors, the UAE Red Crescent showed great generosity in coordination with the Barzani Charity Foundation and the Red Crescent in Erbil. At the same time, the UAE has become an important gateway for trade and import of goods from countries around the world.
 

For her part, the UAE Consul General in Erbil thanked the Governor of Erbil for the warm welcome and reiterated the work and activities, further strengthening the relations between the UAE and the Kurdistan Region in all fields, and supported the institutions of the Regional Government in their work, activities, and humanitarian assistance to displaced refugees in the Kurdistan Region.

The UAE Consul General emphasized that some Emirati traders and investors want to invest their capital in the Kurdistan Region because the Kurdistan Region is a suitable environment for investment, with favorable security stability and facilitation. During the meeting, the relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the UAE were emphasized, and the continuation of relations between the two sides was deemed important.
