On Thursday, September 25, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, welcomed the District Governor of Derecik (Rubarok), Cizay Demirci, and his accompanying delegation at the Governorate's office. The meeting was also attended by Rajab Zuber Haris, the District Commissioner of Soran, and Ghafoor Ahmad Malaswar, the District Commissioner of Mergasor.
During the meeting, the District Governor of Derecik (Rubarok) conveyed the greetings and respects of the Governor of Hakkari Province to the Governor of Erbil. He stressed the importance of further developing and strengthening the relations between the two provinces, expressing his pleasure at visiting the capital city of Erbil.
For his part, the Governor of Erbil, while extending a welcome, conveyed his respects and greetings to the Governor of Hakkari and stressed the further development of economic and commercial relations between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey.
Regarding the "Zeit" International Border Crossing between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey, which is located in the Sherwan Mazin sub-district in Mergasor district and is one of the strategic and important routes between the two sides, he reiterated that both His Excellency Masrour Barzani, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and His Excellency Malamat Mustafa Masoud Barzani, have continuously instructed them on the importance of this vital route.
Therefore, they have started with initial steps and are moving towards greater phases To further develop the crossing, he stated, "We hope that citizens use the Zeit International Border Crossing as a main gateway for movement, and that the crossing remains open daily to citizens and tourists.
This way, it can have a greater impact on promoting the economy, commercial activity, social ties, and the greater stability of the region." He also emphasized the necessity for both sides to work in the public interest to make the crossing operate for (24) hours and to allow citizens to cross by car.
For his part, the District Governor of Derecik (Rubarok) thanked the Governor of Erbil for the welcome and reaffirmed his support for the remarks of the esteemed Governor of Erbil. He stressed the importance of strengthening the relations between the two sides and requested more frequent visits to better serve the citizens and to develop the tourism, economic, and commercial sectors between them.
