Van... Kurdistan Region Delegation Participates in International Breakfast Day Event
On Sunday, June 7, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil; Dr. Ali Tatar, Governor of Duhok; Halgurd Sheikh Najib, Supervisor of Soran Independent Administration; the Deputy Governor of Sulaymaniyah; and their accompanying delegation, which included a number of director-generals, district commissioners, representatives of the Barzani Charity Foundation, representatives of the Chambers of Commerce of Erbil, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, and representatives of exporters and importers, participated in the opening of the International Breakfast Day activities in the city of Van. Their participation came at the official invitation of the Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the aim of strengthening cultural, tourism, and economic relations between the two sides.
At the ceremony, attended by Necdet Takva, Head of the Executive Committee of the Van Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and other administrative officials of the city and prominent figures from the region, the Governor of Erbil, in a speech, expressed his pleasure at the Kurdistan Region delegation's participation in the event. He emphasized the comprehensive development of the old and historical relations between Erbil and Van, and the Republic of Turkey and the Kurdistan Region.
He also stressed the importance of opening both "Zrt" and "Sarzer" border crossings, noting that this step would lead to the revitalization of the economic infrastructure, the development of the trade sector, and the strengthening of friendly, social, and historical ties between the Kurdistan Region and the Republic of Turkey for the mutual benefit of both sides.
At the same time, the host expressed their respect and appreciation for the presence of the Kurdistan Region delegation and considered this step a new opportunity for formulating future joint plans.
It is worth noting that Van breakfast, which regained its leadership in America in 2014 and was registered in the Guinness Book of Records, has been celebrated and promoted every year since 2019 on the first Sunday of June through the International Breakfast Day activities.
