The governor of Erbil meets with the mayors of Mardin

On Friday, May 3, 2024, Governor Omed Khoshnaw of Erbil, accompanied by his delegation, visited the Merdin Municipality, where they were welcomed by the mayors of Mardin, politician and prominent figure Ahmet Turk and Devrim Demir, along with Co-Chair of the Democratic Regions Party, Saliha Ay Deniz, and other members of the city council.
 

During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil extended congratulations to the mayors of Mardin and other municipalities for their success in the recent municipal elections, recognizing it as a testament to the genuine will of the people in Turkey. He expressed his best wishes for their endeavors.
 

In another aspect of the meeting, the Governor of Erbil emphasized the significance of restarting the peace process to address the Kurdish issue in Turkey. He highlighted President Barzani's role as the architect of the peace process in Turkey, underlining his consistent support and emphasis on its importance and the need for ongoing negotiations. Stressing that the time has come to resolve the Kurdish issue through peace, dialogue, and mutual understanding in Turkey.
 

He stated, "We must seize every opportunity for peace."
 

The Governor of Erbil further added, "The Kurdistan Regional Government is fully committed to exerting any necessary efforts to reinitiate and ensure the success of the peace process."
 

The co-chairs of the municipality of Mardin conveyed their joy at the visit of the Governor of Erbil and his accompanying delegation, expressing their gratitude and conveying their regards to President Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, and the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region.

They expressed their hope that the Kurdistan Region would continue to play a significant role in restarting the peace process in Turkey, as it has done in the past. They emphasized that the Turkish government should take the lead in initiating reconciliation and unconditionally restarting peace negotiations.

In conclusion, souvenirs were exchanged between the Governor of Erbil and the mayors of Mardin.
