Erbil… A Turkey-Iraq Business Development Summit took place
Today, Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the presence of Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, Aydın Maruf, Regional Minister for Minority Affairs, Erman Topcu, Consul General of Turkey in Erbil, the President and members of TUSİAD (Turkish Industry and Business Association), representatives from all Chambers of Commerce in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and Turkey, and a number of other officials, businessmen, and entrepreneurs, the Turkey-Iraq Business Development Summit meeting commenced in a ceremony in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.
During the ceremony, the Governor of Erbil delivered a speech. He welcomed the attendees, expressed his pleasure that the meeting was taking place in the capital Erbil, and wished it success.
He also highlighted the business cooperation between merchants and praised TUSİAD's role in developing these relations, stating: "The Ibrahim Khalil international border crossing in the Kurdistan Region has been a vital artery and an important gateway for Turkey's trade with the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the countries of the region. Through this crossing, Turkey's trade flow with the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, and its trade with the world via Turkey, has seen significant economic development, benefiting both sides."
He expressed hope that these forums and talks would contribute to the further advancement of economic and trade relations between Turkey, the Kurdistan Region, and Iraq, and serve as a platform and opportunity to resolve any existing problems or obstacles.
It is worth mentioning that during the meeting, experts and specialists are discussing several topics related to developing trade exchange between Turkey, the Kurdistan Region, and Iraq, expanding the trade volume between the two countries, the export of Turkish goods, and the issue of customs between them.
