Erbil Governor Receives a Chinese Business Delegation

Today, Sunday, February 2, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received a Chinese business delegation at the Governorate Diwan, headed by "Zhang Shirong," Chairman of the Board of Directors of China's Baytul Hikmah Foundation.
They visited Erbil Governorate accompanied by Mustafa Sheikh Abdulrahman, President of Kurdistan Importers and Exporters Association; Atta Mohammad Nuri, Head of the Sulaymaniyah Branch; Rasul Haji Omar, Head of the Erbil Branch; and Mashkhal Kawlosi, Representative of the Chinese Baytul Hikmah Foundation in Kurdistan.

During the meeting, the guest delegation outlined the purpose of their visit to Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region. They highlighted their work and projects, revealing their desire, in coordination with Erbil Governorate, to undertake several diverse projects in various fields such as electricity and technology to further illuminate, rebuild, and advance the capital Erbil.
 

In response, the Governor of Erbil, while extending a warm welcome, expressed his hope that they would spend their time in Erbil peacefully. He also demonstrated Erbil Governorate's readiness to provide all facilities and assistance within the framework of the Kurdistan Region's applicable laws and regulations.
 

He then expressed the Kurdistan Region's desire to develop relations with all countries, including China, which is an important country in the region. He also revealed that in the past, in partnership with the Chinese Consulate in Erbil, in addition to carrying out joint work, one of which was the illumination of the Halabja Martyrs' Street with solar power and another being the construction of a Chinese park, significant progress has been made in relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Republic of China.

He also expressed hope that these relations and friendship would be further developed.
 

Finally, the guest delegation, while expressing their pleasure at visiting Erbil, the capital, and the stability and peace prevailing in the city, extended their sincere thanks to the Governor of Erbil for his welcome, support, and cooperation in their work and projects.
