Governor of Erbil Receives Lord Michael Ashcroft, Honorary Chairman of the International Democrat Union
On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received Lord Michael Ashcroft, the prominent British politician, businessman, and Honorary Chairman of the International Democrat Union (IDU), along with his accompanying delegation, at the governorate office.
During the meeting, Lord Michael Ashcroft expressed his pleasure at visiting the Kurdistan Region and the city of Erbil. He outlined that the primary objective of his visit was to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the history, struggle, and sacrifices of the people of Kurdistan.

The Governor of Erbil highlighted the significance of Erbil as the political, economic, and social hub of the Kurdistan Region.
He emphasized that Erbil, with its deep-rooted history, diversity, and social harmony, has become a prominent model for peaceful coexistence and the acceptance of differences.
Furthermore, both sides underscored the importance of developing bilateral relations and enhancing coordination across various fields, reaffirming the need for continued dialogue and the exchange of expertise.
