Governor of Erbil: France-Kurdistan ties are rich in pride and history

Consul General of France: If France is pleased of the Eiffel Tower, Erbil has the right to be proud of the minaret.

Mr. Olivier Decottignies, French Consul General in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, bid farewell to Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw during a farewell visit on Monday, July 17, 2023.

During the meeting, the French Consul thanked the Governor of Erbil for all the facilities provided to him and stated that during his stay in Erbil, both bitterness and sweetness were dissolved by the Kurdish people's affection.

The governor of Erbil, for his part, reaffirmed the longstanding affinity between the Kurdish people and France.

In addition, he lauded the work, activities, and assistance of the French Consul General, describing him as a close and trustworthy friend of the Kurdish people.

The governor wished him well in his new position and emphasized that his successor will continue to work cooperatively because he represents a hospitable country like France.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Governor presented the French Consul with a commemorative Erbil Minaret.
