President Barzani receives the new British Consul General in Erbil

On Thursday, January 26, 2023. President Masoud Barzani received the new British Consul General in Erbil, Ms. Rosy cave, and an accompanying delegation in Salahaddin.

In the meeting, President Barzani congratulated the new British Consul on her  appointment and wished her success in her work. He also referred to the historical relations between the Kurdish people and the UK and described these relations as important.

President Barzani also thanked Britain for its assistance and support to the Peshmerga forces in the fight against ISIS within the framework of the international coalition.

The meeting also discussed the political situation in the Kurdistan Region and the upcoming elections in the Kurdistan Region, President Barzani stressed that the interests of Kurdistan and the issue of legitimacy above all party interests and the elections should be held this year.

The reform steps in the Kurdistan Peshmerga Force and the need for continued coordination between the international community to combat the threat of terrorism were also discussed at the meeting.
