President Nechirvan Barzani meets with a delegation from the German Parliament

Today Sunday, February 19, 2023. Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, met with a delegation of parliamentarians of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) in the German Parliament, led by Mr. Niels Schmidt, as part of his program at the Munich Security Conference.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker of the German Parliament Aydan Özüguz, they discussed the internal situation in the Kurdistan Region, Erbil-Baghdad relations and dialogue between them to resolve their issues, as well as the Yezidi situation in the refugee camps and Sinjar.

Both sides agreed on the importance of resolving the issues between Erbil and Baghdad, as well as the need for unity and resolving the issues between the political parties in the Kurdistan Region.

For his part, President Barzani expressed the Kurdistan Region's gratitude to the German Parliament for recognizing the massacre of the Yezidis as genocide.

The situation in Iraq and the latest developments in the region in general were also discussed at the meeting.
