The Governor of Erbil receives the head of the Kurdistan Region office of the International Organization for Migration

The Governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, received on Monday, October 2, 2023, at the governorate’s office, Dr. Yoko Fujimura, Head of the Kurdistan Region Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
 

During the meeting, which was attended by the Director of Crisis Coordination in the Governorate of Erbil, Ms. Fujimura discussed the projects and activities of the International Organization for Migration, including the provision of small loans to young people, the support of small projects, and the creation of employment opportunities. She remarked, "They were able to support 2,000 projects throughout Iraq, including 450 projects." In the region of Kurdistan. For his part, the Governor of Erbil thanked the international organization for the services it provides to young people, emphasizing that diversifying sources of income is part of the Kurdistan Regional Government's ninth cabinet and the Prime Minister's vision.
 

The Small Projects Fund was able to support numerous small projects and youth projects, but due to the current financial crisis, the provision of small loans to youth and citizens has ceased, and the Kurdistan Regional Government plans to resume the project.
 

The meeting also addressed the plans and programs of the Erbil Governorate to address the problems of water shortages in the summer and the risks of torrents and flooding in the rainy season, as well as to respond to any climate-related emergencies.
