The Governor of Erbil receives the Chinese Consul General to the Kurdistan Region
Today, Sunday, November 12, 2023, the Governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, received at the governorate’s office the Consul General of China in Erbil, Mr. Liu Jun.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Head of Erbil Municipality and the Director of Erbil Gardens and Parks Engineering, the Chinese Consul General praised the capital's achievement and growth.
referring to "their feeling of great comfort about being in Erbil as a historical and ancient city," he also expressed "his hope that this historical friendship between the Kurds and China and the relations between the Kurdistan Region and his country in all fields (trade, industry, agriculture, and tourism) will continue and develop further."
While welcoming him, Erbil's governor stated, "China as a major world trading country and the presence of its companies in Erbil is important to us, and our desire is to further develop our relations with China." We emphasize that, as always, we would provide all facilities to all Chinese enterprises and investors who wish to work in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region. Aside from addressing the procedures for providing Chinese visas by the Chinese Consulate, all arrangements have been taken to issue Chinese visas to citizens in Erbil beginning with the New Year, they discussed the proposal of constructing a large park with a modern design and Chinese style and an area of (15 thousand square meters) by the Chinese Consulate and under the supervision of Erbil governorate.
In this regard, in addition to choosing potential locations for project implementation, the governor thanked the Chinese Consulate for the initiative and praised the effort that will be a lovely gift from China to Erbil in the future. He also stated that the development of this park will promote a healthy environment and increase the amount of greenery in Erbil.
The Chinese Consul General then officially invited Erbil's Governor to visit China and his country's regions, expressing his desire for Erbil to become a sister city of one of his country's provinces.
The governor of Erbil, for his part, accepted the Chinese consul's invitation and hoped that the agreement between Erbil and one of China's provinces might be linked as soon as possible.
Finally, all parties indicated their willingness to work together, coordinate, and facilitate the success of their combined work and projects.
