Masrour Barzani: The March 11 agreement is a historic document and a significant achievement for the Kurdish people
Today, we commemorate the 11 March agreement, which the Iraqi government was forced to sign 53 years ago in order to recognize part of the Kurdish people's demands, which would not have been possible without the steadfastness of this people and their resistance, which they established in the glorious September revolution led by the immortal Barzani.
The March 11, 1970 agreement represents an important achievement for the Kurdish people and irrefutable evidence of a clear victory for their demands and peaceful message, which has always wanted to resolve differences through dialogue, negotiation, and peaceful means, but unfortunately, the Iraqi government has broken its promises and did not fulfill its agreements with the Kurdistan people's leadership, instead resuming its attacks on Kurdistan. As a result of the Iraqi regime's aggressive policies at the time, the Kurdistan Region and Iraq in general were subjected to devastating wars, devastation, and major calamities, for which the Kurdistan people are still paying the price without being compensated for the tragedies they suffered.
On this occasion, we renew our firm and firm position in defending our constitutional rights and not giving them up, and resolving contentious issues radically based on the constitution.
Masrour Barzani
The president of the Kurdistan Regional Government
